lyrics

I never knew the girl who used to blast 1812.
But, I’d hear Tchaikovsky in the night; I’d hear the final swell.
She had shit to write, and the bed was tight (a twin was all we had),
But there was adderall, and cannonfire, and wells within her head.
She was moving on, and didn’t think that I could tell.
Some piece of me is in the scent of her shampoo on the train.
Sometimes it comes up unannounced, and I am there again.
And, I think that it’s strange that I have come this far.
I knew you once, at least I thought I had you figured out.
I’d sing your name, but I don’t think it was about you now.
What once was love is now a glance at a passerby,
But I remember the rebellion of your leg against mine,
And, I think that it’s strange that I have come this far.
It feels like forever, but it all comes to a sigh someday,
And, then you find yourself fighting tears in this cafe,
And I think that it’s strange that I have come this far.

about

Niamh Brooklyn, New York

I was raised next to the water;
Where it ran from, I never could tell.

I feel the wind upon my shoulder;
It seems to think that I will be well.
